A big pop-rock band behind which stands an energized but soft-spoken multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. Making moving music for still moments, Shachar’s songs sound like a movie soundtrack. The driving songs, the closing scene cathartic music you wish would magically appear during those rare moments you truly feel. A style Shachar obnoxiously calls ‘Sad Rock’. He has been dubbed a bastard child from an orgy of Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie, John Mayer, Damien Rice and a few very pretty women.
Playing shows in the most respected clubs in New York, Boston, and Tel Aviv, composing music for TV, producing indie artists and writing songs about how time has a tendency to warp in a city of ten million. Shachar released his first album ‘About Time’ while living in New York City’s Lower East Side. With nostalgic yet intelligently self aware songs, it has been said of About Time:
“The record is tight and well made with melodic mainstream rock and pop”
Time Out New York
“This collection of ear pleasers certainly encompasses what the genre’s been missing over the last few years: irresistible originality and vibrancy...as close to perfect as on singer/songwriter can practically get”
The Ear
“This CD will inspire you and stir your imagination...Play it at a party, and your friends will assume it’s an already established rocks star they just haven’t caught on to yet”
Indie Music Magazine
Shachar recently moved to Tel Aviv and released two Singles to loving reviews and a warm reception by commercial radio stations. While working on his second album, Shachar spent the last couple of years writing songs for other artists (most recently for Israeli pop sensation Shiri Maimon), touring with his band (most recently in Poland and Germany), and working on music tools for Apple Inc and Waves Audio - during which time Waves received a Grammy for its contribution to the music industry. Shachar is a songwriter and singer foremost, but also a music producer - with a loyal following and over one-million views on Youtube for his production videos.
In early summer 2011 Shachar is due to release his second full-length album, yet untitled, with guest appearances by Ben Stivers (Matchbox 20), Yoed Nir (Regina Spektor), Nir Z (John Mayer, Chris Cornell, Joss Stone), and with several songs mixed by Producer Yoad Nevo (Dandy Warhols, Duran Duran, Gem, Bryan Adams). The album will be supported by a European tour.
Summer 2011 is also set to see the release of the much-anticipated EP by Elba – an electro-acoustic project by Shachar Gilad and renowned Electronic Producer Ran Shani.
